Project Description

For Looming Bodies by Lakshmi Madhavan, a Kochi Biennale Official Collateral Exhibition, light was conceived as the spatial structure through which labour, material and bodily presence could be read. In a bare-bones
room, a contained wash gathered the miniature black-and-white photographs into a continuous perimeter, their reflected light extending onto the floor to guide circulation. The centre was held in darkness, slowing the visitor and turning the gaze inward. A single focused fixture animated the suspended ‘kasavu’, revealing thread, irregularity, handwork and shadow while amplifying its scale and the tension between delicacy and weight.
