Caffeine Lab King Road is a Jeddah roaster’s flagship branch: a coffee bar below, a tea lounge above, one brand and two moods. Light does the dividing. Zonal strategies define each zone without a single partition, held together at a consistent 3000K. An olive tree anchors the double-height arrival, lit by decorative pendants and dual-beam projectors, wide for ambient glow and narrow for the foliage. Rather than clutter bespoke ceilings with standard track, we developed custom mounting bars for adjustable projectors, letting the layout be reworked later without new ceiling penetrations. Linear light within the rammed-earth bar reveals its strata; upstairs a grazer draws out a Mangabi stone wall, the coral limestone of Al Balad, preserved rather than replaced. Shelf strips work twice over, merchandising the coffee and lighting the baristas’ hands. Day and evening scenes carry the room through trading hours on efficient LEDs, and guests stay longer for it.
