Klaipėda State Music Theatre unites a restored historic building with a contemporary extension, using light to create a seamless journey between heritage, architecture and performance. In the main auditorium, precisely aimed spotlights graze handcrafted clay walls, animating their wave-like relief through reflected light and connecting the interior to Klaipėda’s coastal identity. Warm tones and layered light create intimacy while retaining a theatrical character. Cove lighting traces the atrium’s curved forms, while downlights with varied optics shape corridors and public areas into stage-like scenes. A restored heritage chandelier forms a luminous link between past and present. Sustainability is addressed through locally manufactured, high-efficiency luminaires, interchangeable optics and reusable fittings that extend product life. Intelligent controls adjust intensity and operating time to actual needs, reducing energy use without compromising atmosphere, comfort or function.
