Lighting Performance & Usage Context

Architectural Heritage Lighting

Project Description

Given the site’s heritage protection, the main challenge was to create lighting for nighttime use without altering its daytime perception or historical character. Light, architecture and landscape were carefully integrated through discreet luminaires selected to blend with their surroundings. Tinted concrete fixtures were used in visible areas, while recessed or concealed solutions minimized visual impact. All luminaires use a warm 2200 K colour temperature, providing soft, environmentally responsible light while reducing light pollution and protecting the night sky, particularly important due to nearby astronomical observatories. The result is a balanced lighting design that enhances the heritage architecture while respecting its essence, sustainability and environment.
