Lighting Performance & Usage Context

Tesser is designed as a decorative ambient lamp that combines soft illumination with a strong sculptural presence. Its warm, diffused light creates a comfortable, glare-free glow intended to enhance atmosphere rather than function as primary or task lighting. The collection is suited to residential, hospitality, retail, and event environments, including bedside tables, dining settings, shelves, reception areas, lounges, and intimate gathering spaces. The portable models offer three brightness levels and cordless operation, allowing them to be easily repositioned and used where access to electrical outlets is limited. Across the collection, the lighting performance is intentionally intimate and atmospheric, supporting moments of rest, conversation, dining, and visual display while also serving as a distinctive design object within the space.

Project Description

Tesser began as an ode to New York City, inspired by fleeting glimpses of illuminated lives stacked within the city’s windows and architectural grids. These urban observations are translated into sculptural lamps whose harmonious proportions draw from the Fibonacci sequence. Designed for intuitive everyday use, Tesser creates a warm, diffused glow, while portable models offer cordless operation, touch controls, and three brightness levels. Each lamp is 3D printed and hand-finished in Brooklyn, combining precise digital fabrication with craft. Additive manufacturing minimizes material waste, eliminates conventional tooling, and supports localized, small-batch production. Balancing visual impact, usability, technical quality, and responsible production, Tesser is suited to residential, hospitality, retail, and cultural environments.
