Lighting Performance & Usage Context

Exterior lighting design for a landscape retreat

Project Description

• Inspired by Indian spirituality and the Kundalini journey, the lighting transforms into an emotional and narrative medium, beyond pure functionality.
• Concealed lighting guides visitors safely along a winding path, creating immersive spaces for reflection and meditation.
• By day the retreat remains discreet; by night, warm light and illuminated cherry trees create a subtle, memorable atmosphere.
• A low-impact approach reduces light pollution through 2200K lighting, minimal intervention, and durable materials such as Corten steel.
• Integrated into the Vitra Campus landscape, the lighting connects architecture, sound, and nature into a contemplative experience.
