D’Light Lighting Design Award 2026

The following rules and guidelines apply to all participants of the D’Light Lighting Design Award. Entrants must carefully read and accept all terms before submitting any project.

  • Open to designers, studios, architects, brands, manufacturers, and students worldwide.

  • Individual and team entries are both accepted.

  • Projects must have been completed, launched, or conceptualized within the past five (5) years.

  • Entries may include realized projects, prototypes, or conceptual designs.

  • Students and emerging talents (under 30) are encouraged to apply under the “Student & Emerging Talent” category.

Participants must select one of the main categories at submission:

  • Lighting Project Design – completed lighting applications in real-world environments.

  • Lighting Product Design – innovative lighting fixtures and systems.

  • AI-Assisted Lighting Design – projects developed with the aid of Artificial Intelligence.

  • Student & Emerging Talent – academic or conceptual works by young designers.

Each category includes sub-categories as listed on the official website.

  • Each entry must include:
    • 3–6 high-resolution images (JPEG/PNG, 150–300 DPI, 2000px minimum width, max. 5MB each)
    • Project description (500–1000 characters)
    • Optional video (MP4, up to 20MB) or PDF (up to 10MB)

  • All materials must be in English.

  • Projects must remain anonymous during jury review. No logos, names, or watermarks are allowed on images.

  • Each project must be submitted separately. Multiple entries are welcome.

  • Any project that incorporates AI tools (e.g., for concept generation, rendering, or visualization) must be submitted under the AI-Assisted Lighting Design category.

  • Participants must provide a short statement explaining how AI tools were used and how human creative input shaped the final result.

  • Purely AI-generated projects without meaningful human authorship are not eligible.

  • The award reserves the right to reclassify or disqualify any entry that fails to disclose AI involvement.

All entries are judged by the Grand Jury according to six key dimensions:

  1. Innovation & Creativity – originality, materials, and design approach

  2. Aesthetic Impact – emotional quality, design language, and visual harmony

  3. Functionality & Usability – performance, ergonomics, and user experience

  4. Sustainability & Responsibility – environmental and ethical considerations

  5. Technical Excellence – construction, materials, and production quality

  6. Contextual Fit – relevance to environment, culture, or audience

  • All jury evaluations are conducted anonymously.

  • Personal names, logos, or company identifiers are prohibited within images or project descriptions.

  • Violating anonymity rules may result in disqualification.

  • Entrants must be the original creators or authorized representatives of the submitted work.

  • Entries must be free from any third-party claims or copyright disputes.

  • Collaborative or client-based projects must include proper credits and permissions.

  • AI-assisted projects must be transparently credited with human authorship clearly stated.

  • The award organizers are not responsible for copyright infringements by entrants.

  • Participants retain full ownership and copyright of their submitted works.

  • By entering, participants grant D’Light Lighting Design Award a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use submitted materials for:
    • Online and print publications
    • Exhibitions and promotional activities
    • Media, press, and award communications

  • All published work will always include the participant’s name and project title.

Entries may be disqualified if:

  • Submission rules are violated (wrong file types, missing information, or visible branding)

  • False information or plagiarism is detected

  • AI usage is undeclared or misrepresented

  • Entry fee payment fails or is refunded

  • Copyright ownership cannot be verified

All disqualifications are final, and entry fees are non-refundable.

  • Entry fees are non-refundable, regardless of the jury outcome or disqualification.

  • Early bird, regular, and late fees apply based on the timeline announced.

  • Optional Jury Feedback Reports are available for an additional €40.

  • Schools participating through the Campus Ambassador Program may receive free student entries.

  • The Grand Jury consists of independent experts from the fields of design, architecture, lighting, and media.

  • All decisions of the jury are final and non-negotiable.

  • Jury members are required to declare any potential conflicts of interest prior to evaluation.

Winners receive:

  • Digital Certificate and Official Trophy

  • Publication in the Digital Winners Book

  • One-year complimentary membership to the Universal Lighting Platform (ULP)

  • Media coverage via Designooor and partner platforms

  • Optional interview and podcast feature

By submitting an entry, the participant confirms:

  • Full acceptance of all rules and terms

  • Ownership or full authorization to submit the work

  • Disclosure of all collaborators and AI involvement

  • Acknowledgment that all jury and organizer decisions are final
